• Notes

  Most records refer to James 'of Carshore' or 'of Garshore', rather than 'Carronshore', by Falkirk. Gartshore in Kirkintilloch parish was home to a Quaker group, and is the location of an early Quaker cemetery. There was a John Miller 'of Gartshore' at this time, closely associated with a 'James Miller of Hamilton' who was married Margaret Robertson.
