• Notes

  Were there two Alexander Adams? Landsman refers to Alexander Adam as a Quaker from North East Scotland, who was the storekeeper... though Steen in New Aberdeen seems to be referring to the same person, other than stating he was Presbyterian. Note that there was an Alexander Adam, son of Alexander Adam (merchant) and Jean Moffett, baptised in Edinburgh, 7 May 1663.
