- James followed his father, also a prisoner, declaring conformis presidenti in omnibus; in the fugitive roll. His father's statement was:
"James Restoune, elder, prisoner from Berweek, being interrogat and sworne anent his knowledge of the treasonable peaper above mentioned, denyes his knowledge therof direct-lie or indirectlie ; declares he thinks in his judgement these that were at Bothwelbridge were rebells ; declares he thinks it wes murder in them that killed the Archbishop of St. Andrews and that he thinks it unlawfull to ryse in armes against his Majesty or his authority one the account of the Covenant or any other pretext quhatsumever, and thinks the forsaid paper formerlie read to him a traterous and treasonable paper and that he disclames every part of it."

Bond by James Restoun, younger, in Grangeburnemilne, sent in prisoner from Berweik and in the printed fugitive roil, and now ordered to be released as he stands relaxed before the Lords of Justiciary as having in their presence and in presence of the Committee for Public Affairs taken and signed the Test, enacting himself to compear when required and meanwhile to live orderly and keep his parish church, under a penalty of 500 merks ; with clause of registration. The bond is written and dated as above; witnesses, George Rae, writer in Edinburgh, and the said David Gourly. [On the back] "Received 19 December."
