• Notes

  There were several John Hendersons who were subject to legal proceedings between 1679 and 1685. Another John Henderson, who had been suspected of killing Archbishop Sharp was also granted to George Scot but escaped after 26 August. Records in RPCS XI: 26 August, in Leith: Held in the "Theeves-Holl" with Thomas Russell (3rd Series, XI, p166); 22 Oct 1685, location not known, at large having escaped with Thomas Russell by cutting through the back wall of the Thieves' Hole in Leith Tolbooth, reaching the cellar (3rd Series, XI, p203)
